Acronym or Bac(k)ronym, the K.I.S.S. principle applied to teaching may result in active engagement and effective participation on the part of the students as they will have first-hand experience when trying activities which have proven to be effective, enriching and challenging. An invitation to students to keep their attention span at its best, thus leading them to carry out tasks naturally, willingly and above all, meaningfully. Let’s explore the K.I.S.S. principle together and discover how short texts in all formats (jokes, video clips, songs, TV commercials, proverbs, movie trailers, etc.) can make your day and your students’!
Biodata
Gustavo González is a graduate teacher from I.S.F.D. N° 5 in Pergamino and holds a Postgraduate Degree for Faculty EFL Teachers from U.B.A. (University of Buenos Aires). He has been in the ELT field since 1993, working as a teacher, school coordinator, teacher trainer and presenter. He has been delivering seminars and workshops all over Argentina and overseas, sharing ideas about Methodology, the use of songs, movies and internet material in the classroom, how to develop critical thinking skills, how to make our lessons memorable, and how to incorporate new technologies in the classroom. He is one of the contributors to the book Imagination, Cognition & Language Acquisition: A Unified Approach to Theory and Practice (New Jersey City University) and has also written some articles for IATEFL and other institutions. He is a former vice president of APIBA and FAAPI.
